Description and expertise of the organisation:
Strathclyde has has one of the largest industrially-sponsored research portfolios for a university of its size anywhere in the UK and is Scotland’s largest participant in Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
The Research Capability: The Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) Department at University of Strathclyde, is one of the largest in Europe in terms of capacity, breadth and depth of research coverage rated first in Scotland. The Centre for Intelligent Dynamic Communications (CIDCOM), a major research grouping within the EEE Department, has been active in determining applications of optical and wireless techniques in future network development and has been a core contributor to a number of key projects in networking. It brings together internationally recognised groups in both Communications Technologies and Digital Signal Processing. CIDCOM houses a comprehensive range of capabilities to satisfy the need for innovative network and subsystems research including advanced "out of the laboratory" fiber-optic testbed.

Research interests / Project ideas
Research interests cover optoelectronics, fibre optics, advanced photonic devices, WDM, Optical TDM, Optical CDMA, ultrafast optical and all-optical switching, signal processing and advanced data conditioning.
