Ripple, a US-based technology company, is actively working with both private and public sectors to drive the agenda of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). To promote this agenda, James Wallis, Vice President of Central Bank Engagements and CBDCs at Ripple, will deliver the keynote at a webinar on Thursday, January 26. This webinar will address the potential use cases and benefits of a digital pound.

The Digital Pound Foundation, which Ripple joined in October 2021, is focused on the development and launch of a digital pound in the United Kingdom. Other notable participants in the discussion include William Lorenz (co-leader of the Digital Pound Foundation’s use case working group), Chris Ostrowski (CEO and co-founder, SODA), Jakub Zmuda (strategy officer, Modulr), Andrew Dare (CTO banking and financial markets director advisory expert, CGI), Claire Conby (managing director at Billon), and David Karney (head of digital assets, Worldline).

The keynote will focus on the potential benefits of CBDCs, such as improved payments infrastructure, faster transaction speeds, lower transaction costs, and enhanced financial inclusion. It will also touch on the potential use cases of CBDCs, such as in retail payments, international payments, and cross-border payments. The panel will also discuss existing and upcoming regulations and the potential risks associated with CBDCs.

Ripple is enthusiastic about the potential of CBDCs to revolutionize the payments industry, and is committed to working with the public and private sectors to promote the adoption of CBDCs. The webinar, hosted by the Digital Pound Foundation, will be an important step forward in this regard, and will help to further the discussion on the potential of CBDCs.
